Usage

(Dec 2022) The current needs system is broken. An improved immersive food/water feature is planned rather than 'patching' the old needs system. This will not be a quick fix and requires testing. It is planned to be incorporated to 1.16 and future 1.18 versions when it is stable.

A bag of sweet feed starts out unopened until right-clicked in hand to open. This gives the item's inventory texture a slightly crumpled appearance. Each bag of sweet feed can be used eight times before it is used up (disappears). Right-click a grain feeder with an open sweet feed bag in hand to fill up the feeder.  SWEM Horses will eat from accessible grain and hay-feeders when hungry.

Breeding
Sweet feed is the required item to breed SWEM Horses in order to produce a foal. Both horses must be given a serving of sweet feed by a player (right-click with a bag of open sweet feed in hand) to go into love mode. Horses will not enter love mode when eating sweet feed from a grain feeder, or if right-clicked with an unopened bag of sweet feed.

SWEM horses do use accept vanilla breeding items (GA/GC), nor can vanilla horses be bred with Sweet Feed.

Known Issues

  • [-] Sweet feed is supposed to be reduced to 4 servings per bag to balance the cost vs value. Wiki page represents it's current (outdated) status until implemented.
  • [-] Sweet feed and other foods do not contribute to the improvement of the health stat. An improved nutrition and hunger system will be added in future.
  • [Uncommon] Horses may not be able to access feeders (hay or grain) that are surrounded by shavings on all sides. This issue can often be resolved by making sure feeders are clear from surrounding shavings, or grain feeders placed 1 block up above thin shaving layers.
