Usage

When equipped the Armored Pasture Blanket offers the same protection as Diamond Horse Armor.

Faster Healing

Magic Protection: Protection against various AOE or projectile magic damage.

Enhanced Frost Walker: Makes it so water turns to ice around a horse - whether they are moving or not! Has a small AOE and will destroy waterlogged plants in their path so they never fall through holes.

Lava Walker: Makes it so lava turns to magma blocks around a horse - whether they are moving or not! Has a small AOE.

Fire Resistance: Horse is immune to all types of fire damage (including Lava + magma blocks).

Usage

Pasture Blankets are a cosmetic item for SWEM Horses. Armored Pasture Blankets are a welfare-driven (comfort) variation of Horse Armor.

Right click a tamed SWEM Horse with a pasture blanket in hand to equip it - or open the horse's GUI menu (shift + right click with an empty hand) to place the item in the designated tack spot. Pasture blankets use the same tack slot as Horse Armor, so both cannot be used at the same time. Pasture blankets cannot be equipped in addition to tack - and are not intended to be used as quarter sheets or any other kind of riding blanket.

Currently, pasture blankets cannot be displayed like some other tack items (the saddle rack, bridle rack or (more appropriately) the horse armor rack).

Trivia

Those familiar with the project pre-release will probably be aware that pasture blankets were always something the team hoped to add, but no promises could be made due to the complexity of the horse model, making a 3D model rather than just a complex overlay and the conflicts of time/development priorities. As such, it was unlikely to be integrated until V2.

During the SWEM Team's Queen's Cavalry streams it became apparent that pasture blankets were important in survival modpacks - particularly when emphasising immersion and welfare standards. Complex PVE modpacks with hostile mods proved a huge challenge to vulnerable and precious pets like horses; they would often be caught in the crossfire or sustain critical damage from things that could easily be prevented with armor. Supporting survival and adventure modpacks has always been core to SWEM alongside the focus on realism and welfare, so a flaw where horses had to be constantly left tacked in heavy armor, kept indoors at all time or simply not used was not an option. AlaharranHonor (Owner) got to work designing a concept blanket from scratch that could work with SWEM horses, refining it into a finished product to be textured, animated and coded by members of the team.

Known Issues

  • [Always] Armor cannot be 'hotswapped' like other tack pieces.
