 Asteria is referred to in SWEM as a smudged Leopard Appaloosa - a very apt name for the coat though not a recognised one for Appaloosa markings. Based on the mane colouring, Asteria is either a black or bay base. The spotting would also suggest either a black or a dark bay base. When designing the coat, Arishant used a reference of a horse ( Buchiko ) with an entirely different set of genetics known as W14. W14 is a deletion mutation noted as a rare occurrence in Thoroughbreds, often producing totally or near completely white horses with occasional spotting in the base coat colour.
